Installation Tips for Rebuilt
Paragon Transmissions

This section contains information specific to Paragon marine transmissions and is intended to be used with
the information supplied on the
Basic Installation Tips page.

  1.  Insure that the transmission fluid pump is correctly set for the engine rotation.  THE TRANSMISSION
WILL NOT OPERATE IF THE PUMP IS NOT SET FOR THE SAME  ROTATION AS THE ENGINE!

Resetting the pump may be done in the field prior to installation.  Before attempting this change call
us for instructions on resetting the pump.

2As with Velvet Drive units Paragon transmissions are not designed to operate in reverse to obtain
forward boat motion.  Running your Paragon in reverse at above idle RPM will damage the reverse
pinion gears and lead to an exspensive rebuild.

   3.  The Paragon transmission fluid cooling loop operates at 120 to 140 PSI.  Insure that all hoses are rated
        for this pressure.

  4.  Standard 150 PSI rated fluid coolers are OK for use with Paragon marine transmissions.  See our
       Accessories page for available coolers.
